Rasmus Hojlund scored both goals as Napoli went top of Serie A with a 2-1 win over Juventus. 08 Dec 2025
The Denmark forward, who is on loan from Manchester United, slid in to put the defending champions ahead before Juventus hit back when Kenan Yildiz equalised after a counter-attack. However, Hojlund secured the points with his second, a 78th minute header from point-blank range. He now has six Serie A and Champions League goals for Napoli since moving to Italy on a season-long loan at the beginning of September. Former Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay nearly scored just before the interval when his header glanced past the near post. McTominay was forced to visit the touchline several times for treatment though he managed to play on. Napoli have 31 points, one ahead of Inter Milan in second. Juventus are seventh on 23 points.
Lionel Messi provided two assists as Inter Miami beat Vancouver Whitecaps at Chase Stadium to win the MLS Cup for the first time. 07 Dec 2025
Miami got off to the perfect start and took the lead on eight minutes when Edier Ocampo put into his own net when trying to defend Tadeo Allende. Vancouver grew into the game late in the first half and had two big opportunities to level. Their first meaningful attempt at goal came in the 38th minute when goalkeeper Rocco Rios was on call to deny Emmanuel Sabbi from point blank range. Thomas Muller was next to threaten an equaliser when his header landed on the roof of the net. The Whitecaps came out positively and got their reward on the hour as Ali Ahmed's scuffed shot squeezed under Rios' arm. Sabbi was unlucky not to put the visitors in front moments later when he his shot crashed off both posts and his follow-up on the rebound was also deflected on to the woodwork. But Vancouver were only level for 11 minutes as the game, which played out in a carnival atmosphere in Fort Lauderdale, after Rodrigo de Paul met Lionel Messi's perfectly weighted ball before showing composure to finish across goal. Vancouver threw bodies forward in the final stages as they battled for an equaliser but Miami - willed on by a sea of fans waving pink scarves - struck on the counter. Messi was again on call to provide the assist, controlling a lofted ball on his chest and then flicking on for Allende, who rolled the ball through Yohei Takaoka's legs.
Emi Buendia scored with the last kick of the game as Aston Villa stunned Arsenal to move three points behind the Premier League leaders. 06 Dec 2025
Leandro Trossard's sixth goal of the season looked to have earned a point for Arsenal after he cancelled out Matty Cash's opener. But Buendia struck in the 95th minute as Unai Emery's side moved into second in the table. Arsenal, who blew Bayern Munich and Tottenham away last month, suffered their first defeat in the league since losing 1-0 at Liverpool in August. Villa Park erupted after substitute Buendia scored to give Villa their seventh straight game in all competitions. Eberechi Eze had a goal disallowed for offside before the hosts took a first-half lead when Arsenal - especially Eze - switched off to allow Cash to drill in at the far post. Arsenal emerged re-energised after the break when Mikel Arteta introduced Viktor Gyokeres and Trossard, who levelled with his 50th Premier League goal, having already gone close. Emi Martinez brilliantly tipped Martin Odegaard's shot over as Arsenal looked for a winner, but Buendia stole the points in dramatic style, curling in after Arsenal failed to clear.
Harry Kane scored a hat-trick from off the bench as Bayern Munich thrashed 10-man Stuttgart. 06 Dec 2025
The England forward was on the pitch for just 27 minutes before he fired in his third hat-trick of the Bundesliga season. It takes the striker's tally to 28 goals in all competitions after just 22 games played. Konrad Laimer opened the scoring inside 10 minutes when he brilliantly flicked a Michael Olise cross beyond Stuttgart goalkeeper Alexander Nubel. The hosts responded well and had the ball in the back of the net just before the break through Nikolas Nartey but his header was ruled out for offside. With the lead slender, Bayern manager Vincent Kompany opted for a triple change on the hour mark which included top scorer Kane. And it took just five minutes for it to pay off with the England captain firing a brilliant strike into the bottom corner from 25 yards. Fellow substitute Josip Stanisic made it three before Kane scored his second and Bayern's fourth from the spot after defender Lorenz Assignon was shown a straight red card for a deliberate handball. The 32-year-old completed his hat-trick in the 87th minute when he got in front of his marker to poke home Olise's cross from close range. Kane moves on to 17 Bundesliga goals for the season, nine in front of his closest challenger for the Golden Boot, Eintracht Frankfurt's Jonathan Burkardt. Attention turns to the Champions League next for Bayern as they host Portuguese champions Sporting on Tuesday, 9 December (17:45 GMT), while Stuttgart welcome Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Europa League on Thursday (17:45).
Manchester City blew the Premier League title race wide open by capitalising on leaders Arsenal's defeat in comfortably dispatching Sunderland at Etihad Stadium. 06 Dec 2025
Pep Guardiola's side had seen the Gunners suffer a last-gasp loss against Aston Villa at lunchtime on Saturday and ensured there was no slip-up of their own by swatting aside the visitors to move to within two points of the top. City initially found it difficult to make inroads against the Sunderland's low block and were frustrated by a solid five-man backline. Having kept the hosts at bay, the visitors saw the game snatched away in the space of four first-half minutes, courtesy of goals from City's two centre-halves. The Black Cats defenders sat back on Ruben Dias and it proved fatal as the Portugal international strode forward and unleashed a thunderous 30-yard strike, which took a deflection off Dan Ballard and swerved into the top corner. The hosts doubled their advantage on 35 minutes when Josko Gvardiol leapt highest to power home an unstoppable header from Phil Foden's inswinging corner and give the hosts a comfortable half-time cushion. City sought to add to the scoreline in the second half and Jeremy Doku's low curling effort struck the post, while Foden's first-time follow-up was brilliantly blocked. Erling Haaland's hooked shot was cleared off the line by Lutsharel Geertruida, before Rayan Cherki provided a sublime assist for Foden to head in the third goal. Chances were at a premium for Sunderland in the opening period, with Enzo le Fee shooting into side-netting, but they did have better opportunities in the second half. City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma made a big save to deny Wilson Isidor after Dias' mistake, while captain Granit Xhaka's thumping low effort beat the Italy international but cannoned against the post. Sunderland saw Luke O'Nien sent off in injury-time for a nasty, studs-high challenge on Matheus Nunes, with the yellow card upgraded to a red after referee Andy Madley reviewed the challenge on the pitchside monitor.
